We are a small, UK family run business, established in the early 1970s by my father Terry E Keegan (author of The Heavy Horse its Harness and Harness Decoration). Although I grew up with the business and earnt my pocket money helping out right from a small child, I did not take the business over until 2001 when my father retired. My husband (Adrian) joined me in the business in 2014, he does all the hard work of finishing, assembling and polishing.
My father originally established the business while he was doing his research for his book, during this time he travelled up and down the UK talking to as many of the Heavy Horsemen as he could, it soon became apparent to him that there was a gap in the market for good quality, well made harness decorations and brasses that the Horsemen would feel proud to display on their harness. My father, at the time, was a Rep for Guinness and part of his area included Walsall, which was and still is the centre for harness production and all the accompanying hardware. He visited many of the foundries of the time, sourcing old patterns that the foundries were no longer using. During one of his visits he met his friend Ron Baldwin. Ron was looking to retire from his job at one of the last remaining stamping foundries, he had the knowledge, tools and time to help my father realise his vision and so between them KB horse brasses were put into production. (K is for Keegan and the B is for Baldwin).
Over the years the business has grown steadily, we make all our own bell terrets, Fly Terrets, Bell Rosettes and Harness decorations as well as the Brasses. We also carry a range of Draught size bits with our brass ring in hand bits being one of the best sellers.
We are based in Worcestershire in the West Midlands but travel up and down the country with our trade stand throughout the year, see my Show List to see where we will be.
We pride ourselves on the quality of our goods and try our best to give excellent customer service. We have no office hours we are available any day or time.
